VINEYARD REGIONAL CONFERENCE: May 15-17 at the Columbus Vineyard.  Vineyard Churches are not called to business as usual—offering a better religious product for finicky religious consumers. The Spirit who fell on Pentecost took insiders and inspired them to speak in the language of outsiders. Many of us “insiders” were “outsiders” at one time, and the heart of Jesus always leans toward the outsider. So what does it mean to make room in our churches for those who are “like sheep without a shepherd”? We will explore this together at the Vineyard Great Lakes Conference, Making Room: How Acts 2 Churches Create Space for the Spirit, Many Cultures, and Outsiders.  For more info, and to register, visit vineyardcolumbus.org/special-events/making-room

ONE: A new small group to explore the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. ONE God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.  We will gather at 6:00pm, the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month to celebrate Sabbath together with a meal and a study.  (Although May 2012 will be the 1st and 4th Fridays). ONE will be led by Ken & Eva Franklin, (734) 439-0610, kfranklin2@gmail.com.  And will be hosted by David & Beth Peterson, (734) 439-1011, at 226 W. Michigan Ave, Milan, MI 48160. Please call or email and let us know you're coming.

We gather each weekend to celebrate Jesus' presence and activity in our lives and community. We worship through singing, prayer, giving, serving, and being moved by God’s word in the Bible. Worship is our response to God's extravagant grace; it's a celebration of Jesus, our merciful and loving King. Worship at Vineyard tends to be relaxed and informal as we express our heart to God in different ways: some stand and sing, some kneel, some lift hands in praise, others quietly reflect.

We provide care for children during weekend celebrations. Pre-schoolers (birth—pre-kindergarten) are served by screened leaders and from September through May, grade-schoolers (K-5th) participate in Promiseland, a dynamic program that includes activity centers, large group presentations, and small groups. In June, July, and August, 3 year olds through 5th graders participate in an engaging outdoor soccer camp, filled with fun, friends, and what the rest of the world calls “football”.

Youth Ministry programs are available at the Sunday celebration for Middle School (every week) and High School (every other week). This is just one part of a developing and growing youth ministry.

quotes

“[God] is not an abstract god who floats above the blood and dirt and pain of the world. [God] is a god who is fundamentally defined by action on behalf of the oppressed.”

- Rob Bell, from “Jesus Wants to Save Christians”

small groups

Worship celebrations are inspiring and energizing, but small groups are where most personal transformation and growth really happens. Small groups meet in homes, local restaurants, and even gyms. Each in its own way provides an opportunity to step from the isolation of anonymous Christianity into an experience of community. Community in Jesus, from Jesus, and for Jesus. You’re welcome to try any out. Newcomers are warmly welcomed, but visiting once doesn’t obligate you to stay. more...
